Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Anne D. Grulich papers consist of research files, the contents of which include articles; correspondence; interview notes and transcripts; maps; images; reference copies; reports; and research notes. The bulk of the material is dated from circa 2000 to 2010.

Topics addressed in this collection include the early history of St. Mary's Female Seminary; slavery and enslaved persons in Maryland, particularly their relationship to St. Mary's Female Seminary; and a variety of topics related to St. George Island, Maryland (such as erosion on the island).

Other prominent individuals, organizations, and resources in this collection include Agnes Kane Callum’s book, "Slave Statistics of Saint Mary's County, Maryland, 1864"; the Maryland State Archives (MSA); and the Saint Mary's Beacon, three sources that Grulich consulted heavily.
