Biographical / Historical
Michael Glaser was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1943. He graduated from Denison University with a B.A. degree. Glaser continued to Kent State University and graduated with an M.A. and a Ph.D. degree. He taught at St. Mary’s College of Maryland for nearly 40 years and became professor emeritus in 2008.
Michael Glaser served as the Poet Laureate of Maryland from 2004 to 2009. He has published over 500 poems in several literary journals. His poetry collections include “A Lover’s Eye” (1989), “Being a Father” (2004), and several chapbooks.
Along with being published in several literary journals, Dr. Glaser worked as head of the Division of Arts and Letters and chair of the English Department at St. Mary's College of Maryland. He was presented the Homer Dodge Endowed Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Columbia Merit Award from the Poetry Committee of the Greater Washington, D.C. area.
