Scope and Contents

Addressed to Mrs. John T. Johnson. Describes that Lura felt as if she hadn’t written home in a long time. Explains the background of writing letters and mailing on Sundays. Explains that she has not needed a particular dress and wants to get another one so that someone else can use the dress at commencement (graduation). Discusses a trip Miss France coordinated to take the college girls and some of the teachers to Pt. Lookout for tea. Describes the time they had in the “new” St. Mary’s Seminary Bus and the beautiful scenery. Describes the “point” as a long round box” where you can put one hand in the Potomac and one in the Chesapeake Bay. Believed the Bay was the “blue-est water she’d ever seen” and states that she went swimming in a river and describes the water as warm. Went into detail about the weather and hope to swim again soon. Explains that she must read the Bible at assembly. Glad to start paying off bills. Expects to get caught up. Describes that she is trying not to spend much.
