This series documents the activities of the Office of Marketing and Public Relations (including predecessor bodies, such as the Public Information Office and the Office of Public and Media Relations), whose staff included Christine Cihlar, Linda Lagle, Norine Rowe, and Marc Apter. The bulk of the material is dated from 1970 to 2010 and includes clippings and clippings reports, correspondence, photographic material, press releases, publications, read files, and subject files. Other material includes articles, biographical material, brochures, correspondence, fliers, and rosters.

Also included in this series are several newspaper clippings books of news articles related to St. Mary's College of Maryland. When May Russell arrived at St. Mary's in 1948, she directed a secretary to clip news articles. This practice continued until 1980. In 2000, the Office of Public and Media Relations contracted a clip service to compile news articles about St. Mary's.

Prominent people and topics in this series include SMCM athletes Danielle Brennan and Julie Croteau; SMCM faculty, such as Zach Messitte and Lucille Clifton; the Governor’s Cup Yacht Race; SMCM’s presidents, particularly Edward (“Ted”) Lewis; the Tidewater Music Festival; and various Woodrow Wilson fellows.
